New technologies have always attracted more male users, but recently that scenario has changed significantly. According to the new US survey, which was conducted by the mobile research firm Telephia, women convey two-thirds of the mobile phone game market.
Telephia has provided syndicated information products to the leaders of the mobile communications industry since 1999. Telephia metrics are now the industry standard measure of subscriber share, network quality, device share, customer satisfaction, revenue share, application usage and many other key performance indicators.
The research established that female wireless subscribers make up 65 per cent of mobile phone game revenue. According to the report, four of the top five revenue-generating titles were puzzle or strategy-based games, with Tetris, Tetris Deluxe and Bejeweled securing the top spots, contributed 13.6 per cent of mobile phone game revenue in total.
After the puzzle and strategy group, the category with the biggest revenue was card and casino games, which accounted for 18.3 per cent of total earnings. The only group in which revenue comes more from men than women is action and adventure, where men have a 60 per cent share.
